Plunket groups benefit from donation

The new kitchen in Poutokomanawa, the Manurewa Plunket Centre, was funded by the Ted Manson Foundation, the $50,000 kitchen will be used to deliver workshops on topics such as babies first solids and fussy toddlers, to help and support parents and caregivers as their children grow and develop.

The kitchen is an awesome asset to our centre, Plunket Community Development Manager Clare Green says.

“It’s also made the centre a much nicer place to work from. It’s given staff a comfortable social place to congregate and socialise while having lunch or grabbing a cuppa,” Clare says.

Plunket Chief Executive Amanda Malu says the Foundation’s support will ensure the redeveloped Poutokomanawa becomes a hub in the Manurewa community.

“We want Poutokomanawa to feel like a home and to be a place where whānau can bring their tamariki and feel warm, safe and welcome. In most homes, the kitchen is central to creating a nurturing environment, so Plunket is really thankful for the Foundation’s support in enabling that.”

The Ted Manson Foundation is also giving Plunket $25,000 to develop a children’s playground at Poutokomanawa.
